The residents of the "Karam al-Jaouni" neighborhood in Sheikh Jarrah unanimously rejected the settlement proposed by the Israeli Supreme Court, which considers the residents of the neighborhood to be "protected tenants" of the "Nahlat Shimon" settlement association, which paves the way for the gradual confiscation of the residents' right to their lands.

The statement of the residents of the neighborhood, which was issued on the last day of the deadline set for them to respond to the settlement, stated that this refusal “comes out of our belief in the justice of our cause and our right to our homes and our homeland, despite the absence of any tangible guarantees to strengthen our Palestinian presence in occupied Jerusalem by any party or institution.” ".

The people added in their statement that the occupation courts, during the legal process, evaded their responsibility to issue the final ruling, and forced them to choose between displacement from their homes or submitting to an unjust agreement, considering this as an extension of colonial policies aimed at fragmenting the social solidarity achieved by the Palestinian people in the recent gift, and an attempt to divert the lights. About the major crime, which is the ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the occupation and its settlers.

The people of Sheikh Jarrah held the occupation government fully responsible for the theft of their homes, and they also held the Palestinian Authority and UNRWA responsible (communication sites) responsible

The residents of Sheikh Jarrah held the occupation government fully responsible for the theft of their homes, as well as the Palestinian Authority, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees (UNRWA) and Jordan, which built Sheikh Jarrah's units as a project for housing refugees in 1956 and gave the refugees the full right to own the land.

At the conclusion of their statement, the residents of the Karam al-Jaouni neighborhood called on the international community to stand up to its responsibilities to deter the Israeli courts from expelling them from the neighborhood they lived in and defended for decades.

Jerusalemites and those following the case received this statement with satisfaction, especially that it came months after the issue of the displacement of the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood emerged in the local and international arena, and the broad solidarity with it and the intervention of the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip in this case and the declaration of war at the height of the restrictions and violations that were practiced against the residents and solidarity activists.

A few days ago, the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh, called the families of the neighborhood and gave them a guarantee of resistance. Khaled Meshaal, the head of the Hamas movement abroad, confirmed that what happened on Ramadan 28 of the declaration of war will be repeated and will be repeated.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli Supreme Court issued a decision on the fourth of last October, in which it proposed a settlement in which the settlement association "Nahalat Shimon" is considered the owner of the land and the residents of the neighborhood are protected tenants and represent the first generation in protection.

After consultation, the national and Islamic bodies issued their position on the decision, saying that the settlement proposal submitted by the court does not meet the aspirations of the residents or the national position. The residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood are the original owners of their land, and that there are no rights for the settlement associations on this land as it is owned by the residents by the Jordanian government , after an agreement with the Relief and Refugee Agency, and this obliges the occupation government to respect the agreements that the Jordanian government has concluded with the residents.

There are 28 extended refugee families living on an area of 18 dunums in "Karam al-Jaouni" in Sheikh Jarrah, and their number is 500 people who are threatened with eviction in favor of the settlement associations that claim ownership of the land.
