The servicemen of the Russian Federation have learned how to effectively repel attacks from combat unmanned aerial vehicles.

This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the second meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and enterprises of the military-industrial complex.

The main topic of the second meeting, which is taking place in Sochi, is equipping the Russian Armed Forces with unmanned aerial systems.

“We know very well how it (unmanned aircraft. -

) has proven itself in armed conflicts in recent years, how effective and how dangerous it can be for us, bearing in mind what we saw in Syria - terrorist attacks with the help of unmanned devices.

We have learned to repel these attacks and we are doing it quite effectively, ”Putin said.

The head of state also noted that the Russian military currently has more than 2,000 drones in service.

“We need to continue to work on them, to work as hard as it has been recently, having in mind, among other things, the use of artificial intelligence, the most modern achievements of technology, science, and, of course, bearing in mind the experience that we when using these aircraft, we ourselves have an analysis of what we observe around us, "the Russian president emphasized.

In October, Sergei Bogatikov, CEO of Kronshtadt JSC - the developer of the Orion heavy reconnaissance and strike drone - on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the first flight of this UAV, said in an interview with RT that Russian specialists managed to significantly catch up with the world's leading leaders in the field military developments related to combat unmanned aircraft.

He also recalled that the first complex with the Orion UAV was handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defense in April 2020.

"Orion" is an unmanned aerial vehicle of long duration of flight, the initial task of which was to conduct aerial reconnaissance day and night in a wide range of climatic conditions, "he said.

According to him, at the moment "Orion" is used not only for reconnaissance, but also for strike purposes.

“The perfect aerodynamics of the glider allows it to achieve record-high performance in terms of range and duration of flight -

the device can stay in the air for more than a day.

Orion has an open architecture, which allows us to adapt to the consumer.

At the request of the customer, we can install on the UAV those payloads and aircraft weapons that he wants, ”Bogatikov explained.

At the end of October, Denis Oslomenko, the general director of the PPSh Laboratory (Countering Industrial Espionage), told RT about the completion of factory tests of the LPD-801 antidron gun.

According to him, this means of countering drones was created taking into account the wishes of the military.

LPD-801 is designed to "disrupt flight" of drones in prohibited areas.

The gun is capable of blocking Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS satellite systems, Beidou, Galileo, GLONASS and preventing unauthorized data transmission.

The antidrone gun batteries are made in the form of magazines for the Kalashnikov assault rifle and are carried in pouches that are in any modern outfit.

According to experts, the power structures of the Russian Federation are in dire need of such a product, which often have to counteract UAVs.

During the first meeting with the leadership of the Defense Ministry and defense industry enterprises, Vladimir Putin also touched on the topic of strengthening the Aerospace Forces.

The head of state noted that this is one of the most powerful, high-tech and maneuverable components of the modern Russian army, on the combat readiness and technical equipment of which the defense of Russia from an aerospace attack and the maintenance of strategic parity directly depend.

“And you and I know, and we know it well, that some of our foreign colleagues are not abandoning their attempts to“ break ”this parity, including by deploying elements of a global missile defense in the immediate vicinity of our borders.

We cannot fail to notice these threats to the security of Russia and we will respond appropriately, adequately to the situation, "Putin emphasized.
