Huge expectations, equal to the climatic disasters sweeping the planet: after the "disappointed hopes" of the G20 summit, more than 120 world leaders are meeting this Monday in Glasgow, in a hurry from all sides to do more and faster to avoid the worst to mankind.

France in search of leadership

On the international scene, France wants to present itself as a major player in the fight against global warming. Signed under the presidency of François Hollande, the Paris Agreements marked a major step forward in the fight against global warming. But today, France is once again in search of leadership on these themes. And in this quest for recognition, Emmanuel Macron is refining his image: that of a head of state who intends to become the leader of climate negotiations.

To do this, the tenant of the Elysée has one main argument: the French model, emitting less C02 than its competitors thanks to the large share of nuclear in the production of its electricity.

While many countries continue to favor coal, a fossil fuel that emits a lot of greenhouse gases.

But can this one argument be enough?

The G20 countries have already agreed on Sunday to stop financing all new coal-fired power plants internationally.

Because six months before the presidential election, environmental protection is one of the main concerns of the French ... And that, the president, who is not yet officially a candidate, is far from ignoring it.
