The importance of the sport of swimming

In the 1930s, the importance of swimming began to grow.

At the end of the 1930s, the Luleå swimming club received SEK 10,000 to build a new cold bath house, a swimming stadium, on the south side of Gültzauudden.

The inauguration took place in 1938 with 2,000 invited guests.

Pontusbadet

The issue of a modern bathhouse was discussed in the city council for a long time.

The economic boom after the Second World War contributed to the city council making the decision to build a new hot bath house, what later came to be called the Pontus Bath, which was inaugurated in 1957.
