The Islamist Taliban in Afghanistan has released a voice that belongs to Supreme Leader Akhnzada.

It seems that the aim is to appeal to the authority of the Supreme Leader, who has never appeared in public since taking office five years ago.

The Taliban released an approximately two-minute audio file on Twitter on the 31st, which belongs to Supreme Leader Akhnzada.

In the audio file, there is a recording of saying, "I am here to pray to you. I want you to pray for me."

Taliban executives told NHK that the recording was made on the 30th when Rev. Akhnzada spoke to local executives in southern Kandahar.

Akhnzada was appointed Supreme Leader of Tullivan in 2016, but has never appeared in public and is regarded as a spiritual leader.

It is believed that the Taliban aims to tighten the organization and appeal the authority of the Supreme Leader both internally and externally by releasing the voice of Rev. Akhnzada.
