Two Syrian soldiers were injured today, Saturday, as a result of Israeli missile strikes targeting the countryside of Damascus, according to what the official news agency "SANA" quoted a military source as saying, while the echoes of the bombing echoed throughout the capital.

The military source said, "The Israeli enemy fired a burst of surface-to-surface missiles from the direction of northern occupied Palestine, targeting some points in the Damascus countryside," and it led to "injuring two soldiers and causing some material losses."

He added, "Our air defenses confronted the aggression's missiles and shot down some of them."

Syrian state television reported earlier that explosions were heard in the Damascus countryside.

"We do not comment on reports by foreign media," an Israeli army spokesman said when asked about the attack.

Israel, which is concerned about Iran's growing regional influence and its military presence in Syria, said earlier that it had carried out hundreds of strikes in Syria to reduce Iran's entrenchment.

According to sources in the Syrian opposition, "the Israeli missiles targeted the 94th Brigade in the Dimas area northwest of the capital, Damascus."

And sources close to the government forces acknowledged that "areas in the vicinity of the capital, Damascus, were subjected to missile strikes from the areas of the Syrian Golan."

It was customary for the Israeli shelling to take place at night, and this is the second time that the bombing has taken place during the day in more than a year.

Israel has launched hundreds of raids on Syria since the outbreak of the crisis in mid-March 2011.

On October 14, 9 fighters loyal to Damascus were killed in an Israeli bombing of the Palmyra area in Homs Governorate (central country), one week after the killing of two non-Syrian fighters loyal to Iran, in an Israeli bombing that also targeted T-4 Airport.
