Syria..Two soldiers were injured in an Israeli shelling on the countryside of Damascus

Official Syrian media, quoting a Syrian army statement, said today, Saturday, that its air defenses repelled an Israeli attack with missiles targeting some points in Damascus countryside, and shot down some of them.

The statement added that the attack caused the injury of two soldiers and some material losses.

Syrian state television reported earlier that explosions were heard in the Damascus countryside.

Sources in the Syrian opposition told the German News Agency that "the Israeli missiles targeted the 94th Brigade in the Dimas area, northwest of the capital, Damascus."

This is the second time that Israeli shelling has taken place during the day in more than a year.

"We do not comment on reports by foreign media," an Israeli army spokesman said when asked about the attack.

Israel, concerned about Iran's growing regional influence and military presence in Syria, said earlier that it had carried out hundreds of strikes in Syria to slow Iran's entrenchment.
