In Antananarivo, a cartoon concert was held at the French Institute to present the collective comic book album “Destins Croisés”.

A bilingual Franco-Malagasy album, the culmination of a residency for 10 young cartoonists.

In the Big Island, many talents are emerging, but remain blocked professionally, for lack of support and the possibility of being edited.

Saturday, October 30, four of these young designers and colorists gave a preview of their album by drawing live and in music in front of an amazed audience.

On the stage of the French Institute, projected on a large screen, the colors, characters and fragments of stories of Seheno, Faliéry, Damy and R-Aly take shape to the rhythm of the poetic compositions of Edgard Ravahatra.

A four-handed performance where the worlds of artists merge and adapt to each other.

“

You had to learn to use the other's colors, learn the other's line.

It's as if we understood each other.

It was like a choreography,

”says Seheno, 25, a freelance illustrator.

" Destins Croisés "is a universe shared between us, the ten artists.

We each have our story.

For example, for Seheno, she talks about a little fairy who was persecuted by others because she was different.

For my part, it is two twin brothers who have become kings, without knowing that they are brothers who find themselves having to face each other in a great battle.

It speaks of a curse, of a common tradition in Madagascar,

”continues Faliéry, 23, student and designer.

Crossed destinies of authors facing the same difficulties

This is the first time for me that I was able to really come into contact with a publisher, and this is what mainly blocks young artists these days

 ", testifies Faliéry.

“

There is no institution for illustrators in Madagascar, and that stops some young people who have passion, but who cannot go to the end, because no one is there to support them.

When you're an illustrator, you're often all alone in front of your computer or in front of your paper, and projects like this help us get to know people and get closer between artists,

 ”adds Seheno.

The album, published by the Reunionese publishing house “Des bubbles in the ocean”, will also be presented in France, at

the Angoulême festival
