Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri said that his visit to the Russian capital, Moscow, aims to crystallize a common vision with the Russian side in the nuclear deal negotiations, amid attempts by the European Union and Tehran to resume talks.

Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister, held talks in Moscow with his Iranian counterpart Bagheri, which dealt with bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation in various fields to serve the interests of the two countries, as well as issues of common interest.

Regarding his meeting with Bogdanov, Bagheri said that the aim is to remove the outstanding problems between the two countries and open new paths of cooperation.

Bagheri's meetings in Moscow come to exchange views on the talks to lift the embargo against the Iranian people to be held in Vienna.

Baqeri had announced - the day before yesterday, Wednesday - that Iran intends to resume negotiations on reviving the 2015 nuclear agreement, in Vienna next November.

In a fruitful and positive meeting with DFM Sergei Rybakov, we reviewed the recent developments & exchanged views on negotiations to remove unlawful sanctions.

It was decided to continue our consultations in different levels to strengthen our common positions.

Resume and suspend

Negotiations between Iran and the 1 + 4 group (Britain, Germany, Russia, China and France) were launched in Vienna last April, but were later suspended due to a new government taking over the reins of power in Iran last June.

Earlier on Friday, an EU spokesman said there were attempts between Iran and world powers to set a date for resuming talks to revive the nuclear deal in Vienna as soon as possible.

The chief Iranian negotiator had said - following talks in Brussels this week - that negotiations would resume in Vienna at the end of next November.

EU spokesman Peter Stano said the October 27 meeting in Brussels was "productive" and "helped to identify ways forward for the resumption of negotiations in Vienna."

"We are cooperating with other partners, including Iran and the other signatories (to the nuclear agreement) to set a date as soon as possible in Vienna," Stano added - in a regular briefing.

During his foreign tour, US President Joe Biden will discuss many files, including the Iranian file.
