People living in nursing homes were the first to start being vaccinated, this after major problems with the spread of infection.

Now the effects of the second syringe are starting to fade for that group, and therefore the regions are investing in getting a third dose.

But it differs how far ahead you are in that work.

In Kronoberg, vaccine coordinator Lena Andersson Nazzall says that before the week is over, it will be completely ready.

- Our municipalities were extremely quick to start vaccinating, and I can soon come with the message that everyone is ready, says Lena Andersson Nazzall.

No exact statistics

In Region Kalmar, where this week there was an outbreak of a nursing home in Nybro, however, they do not have the same control.

- It is the municipalities that take care of it, so I do not yet have any exact statistics on how many are vaccinated, says vaccine coordinator Marie Ragnarsson.

The effect decreases

The elderly who were infected at the nursing home in Nybro were all waiting to receive their dose 3. And dose 3 is important right now according to the infection control doctor in Kronoberg Christian Blomqvist.

- You still have some protection from the second syringe, but the effect is starting to subside.
