For the equivalent of a thousand kronor, a doctor can mark you as vaccinated in the national vaccine register.

That offer spread a man in the city of Sumy in northern Ukraine, according to the country's public prosecutor.

It is one of hundreds of ongoing investigations into falsified vaccine and PCR test evidence in the country.

- Ukraine has been close to drowning in forged vaccine evidence, says Deputy Interior Minister Yevhenii Yenin.

The country is one of the most skeptical of vaccines in Europe.

Only one in six residents is fully vaccinated against covid-19.

At the same time, a vaccine certificate is required to enter restaurants and sporting events without restrictions.

The government has also introduced vaccine requirements for certain public employees.

Ukrainian border police say they have seized 350 forged covid documents since August.

There have also been cases where people who bought fake vaccine evidence later wanted to get vaccinated for real, according to Reuters.
