The middle-aged man who has been arrested tonight in Lardero (La Rioja) as the alleged perpetrator of the death of a child,
whom he would have taken with deceit, has
already served a prison sentence for a crime of murder that occurred in Logroño in 1998 sources of the investigation and residents of the area have confirmed to Efe.
The 9-year-old boy was
found dead tonight
in Lardero after several witnesses claimed that they had seen how a man took the minor away by deception, the Government Delegation in La Rioja has detailed.
This man has been arrested after being found with the minor, who has been found by a Civil Guard patrol in
a very serious and unconscious condition,
after which he has died.
In a note, the Delegation added that, at 8:25 p.m. this Thursday, a call was received on the SOS Rioja 112 warning of the disappearance of a minor in Lardero, a municipality in the metropolitan area of Logroño, about 5 kilometers from the Riojan capital and with more than 11,000 inhabitants.
A few minutes later, a Civil Guard patrol has given notice for an ambulance to be called upon
finding the minor in a very serious condition and unconscious with a male.

Once the ambulance arrived at the scene, an attempt was made to resuscitate the minor, but this was unsuccessful and the minor has died.
Neighbors of the area have indicated to Efe that the child has been found
inside the portal of number 7 of Río Linares
de Lardero

, where the detainee lives.
They have narrated that the victim was playing with other children in a park located next to the Villa Patro school, from where a man has taken him.
After knowing the event, there have been moments of tension, especially when the Civil Guard and the Local Police have prepared the operation to remove the detainee from the garage of the house, where
about 200 people have gathered.
For several minutes, the concentrates have rebuked the agents, whom they have reproached for protecting the detainee and have asked that they be allowed in to "lynch" him.
Several of these neighbors have assured in front of the agents that they had already warned that
the detainee had tried on other occasions to take children
from the area.
"You called us crazy and only two of you came and now
a child has had to die so that you all come to protect the murderer,"
a neighbor told the agents.
Eyewitnesses have explained to journalists that in the area there was
"concern" about the habitual presence of this man
who, according to them, would have been released from prison in 2020 after serving a sentence for the murder of a real estate agent in Logroño in August 1998 .
The detainee has been transferred to the offices of the Civil Guard in Logroño;
while the agents remain inside the property.
Neighbors continue in the vicinity,
behind a cordon of the Benemérita and the Local Police, pending the transfer of the minor's corpse by the funeral services.
