Economy The changes slow down the negotiation and leave in the air that the labor reform can come into force on January 1
Government Yolanda Díaz drags Pedro Sánchez to explain himself with the labor reform without speaking during the last days
Shielding, changes in official itineraries with respect to the planned official program and conscientious distancing of the press from where the news was actually taking place. Thus has passed the sunny morning in which
Trujillo
(
Cáceres
) has received - it is a saying, because the old town has not been allowed access to the population - the 32nd edition of the
Hispano-Portuguese Summit
, which in the absence of official announcements scheduled for this afternoon has focused on the interest produced by the meeting of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, with his vice-presidents Nadia Calviño and Yolanda Díaz after the heated controversy that took place in recent days regarding the reform work in the run-up to the meeting that will be held next Tuesday. But it has not been possible that the journalists were present in that predictable greeting and that therefore there is a photograph that confirms it. It is true that they had coincided in the
Council of Ministers
but not in a public act like the one scheduled for today in Trujillo.
From an hour and a half before Sánchez and
António Costa
, the Portuguese prime minister, opened the summit with a visit to the
Castle of Trujillo
, the journalists were located in that area without the possibility of accessing any other place, so they were not was able to witness the meeting between the two vice presidents.
Meeting today was a matter of protocol because the summit has brought together no more and less than nine members of the Executive (three vice-presidents and six ministers), in addition to Sánchez himself, who presides, along with António Costa, this meeting.
The Portuguese leader arrives in the lowest hours of his mandate, on the verge of the call for elections after having knocked down their government partners the budgets.
In the historic Trujillo Castle, both leaders received military honors from the
Army
after Sánchez landed in the town of Cáceres in the presidential helicopter, the
Super Puma
of the 402 Squadron of the Air Force.
This first greeting from the two heads of government is usually carried out with the rest of the members of the respective delegations but this time it has been scheduled with the presence of them alone, only supported by the president of the
Junta de Extremadura
, Guillermo Fernández Vara, and the Government delegate in this community, Yolanda García Seco. Therefore, no minister went up to the Castle, as planned, thus causing a change in the official protocol while the rest of the delegations remained in the Palace of the Dukes of San Carlos, in the center of the town.
Until there and after making a brief tour of the castle, Sánchez and Costa then traveled to greet them, also at another time without open coverage for the media and only with the presence of the official images of Moncloa, which has prevented that journalists could be witnesses of the image sought between Calviño and Díaz, which also by protocol had to be located together while they waited for the arrival of Sánchez and Costa.
Not only journalists have suffered this censorship.
A large group of protesters from various social groups in Extremadura (who claim, among other issues, the arrival of a decent train to this region) have also been displaced from the official places where the summit is taking place.
The nearly one hundred people who are demonstrating have been placed in the arcades of the Plaza Mayor de Trujillo, always far from the Castle where Sánchez climbed and also far from the Palace of the Dukes of San Carlos, where it takes place in these moments the bilateral encounter.
