At present, citizens can choose between six different home care providers.

This is done in accordance with the law on systems of choice, law.

But now the members of the social committee have voted to leave the system of freedom of choice and instead use the law on public procurement, LOU.

This means that the municipality procures a home care provider as a complement to the municipal one.

What the customer gets for the contractor depends on where he lives.

The committee's second vice chairman Georg Lagerstedt Örsbäcken (C) says that he voted according to the proposal, but got an amendment passed.

- A supplement should be made in the feasibility study where you look at which division is optimal.

The proposal states that half should be municipal and half private, but there is no reasoning as to why, he says.

However, yesterday's decision will not become final until the minutes are signed, which will take place within two weeks.

Thereafter, the municipal board and the municipal council shall take a position on the issue.
