Moscow implements comprehensive closure measures after the increase in Covid-19 deaths

The Russian capital, Moscow, imposed its most severe closure since June 2020 today, Thursday, as hospitals faced a growing wave of infections with the Corona virus, which caused the country to record a record daily increase in virus-related deaths.

The partial closure excludes only major stores such as pharmacies and supermarkets, while schools and government kindergartens close their doors.

It comes before the closure of workplaces across the country for a week, starting from October 30.

Other regions followed Moscow's lead and began implementing a partial general closure on Thursday or earlier, ahead of the initiative to close workplaces across the country.

Today, Thursday, Russia recorded 1,159 deaths from Covid-19 disease in the past 24 hours, in a new record daily increase.

The government task force to combat the pandemic also detected 4,096 new infections, compared to 36,582 yesterday.
