When autumn leaves fall on the tracks, it can become sticky and very slippery after a while. Every year, the Swedish Transport Administration fights leaf slipperiness by pouring a frictional liquid on the railway tracks - electra gel. - It has a consistency similar to wallpaper paste, says Mats Wilhelmsson, unit manager for the railway in maintenance at the Swedish Transport Administration.

In Värmland, the leaf control trains run around the county at night for ten weeks, and pour the liquid on the tracks - five to seven nights a week, depending on the weather.
Until week 42, 25 tonnes of electra gel had so far been used on the Värmland railways.
