France reveals thwarted coup attempt

The famous French newspaper, Le Parisien, revealed that the security authorities in France had thwarted a coup attempt led by a far-right politician.

According to the newspaper, French intelligence announced that it had thwarted a “coup attempt” in 2021 by the former deputy of the Democratic Movement Party, Remy Dayer, by forming a “terrorist network” comprising current and retired officers in the police, gendarmerie and army.

According to the newspaper, Remy Dayer, who was arrested on suspicion of organizing attacks on vaccination centers against the Corona virus, planned a coup by forming a wide “terrorist network” throughout France, and French intelligence managed to thwart the plot.

The newspaper pointed out that “current and retired officers in the police, gendarmerie, and army were part of the network, as well as elements outside the country, including an officer awarded the French Order of Merit, as Secretary of the movement’s military wing.”

The "France TV Info" website revealed that Dayer called his "secret" scheme "Operation Azure", noting that it was "very organized", and the site added, quoting a source "close to the file", that the idea of the scheme arose about a year ago. At a time when France was fighting a health crisis due to the repercussions of the Corona virus, he continued, "Dayer was leading the Azure operation from his home in Malaysia, where he formed a secret organization that included dozens of people to participate in his project."

He pointed out that the organization includes "civilian and military people with access to real weapons and a recruitment plan, and the military team is headed by two soldiers from the French army," adding that "Operation Azure was worrying, although no specific date for the coup was set."
