"Members of the joint expedition of the Russian Geographical Society and the expeditionary center of the Russian Ministry of Defense found an American aircraft from the Second World War in Kamchatka," RIA Novosti writes with reference to the press service.

It is assumed that this is a plane from the US Navy air squadron, which flew on February 20, 1945 from an American airbase to bomb the Japanese islands, but was forced to make an emergency landing.

According to scientists, after the fall, the device caught fire, but, judging by a number of historical signs, the crew itself had to escape.

It is noted that the tail, elements of the hood, broken cockpit plexiglass, fenders, landing gear struts, motors, oxygen tanks, instruments from the cockpit, pedals and aircraft control sticks were found.

In April, a plane from the times of the Great Patriotic War was found in the Kola Bay.
