To enhance the cultural and artistic scene at Expo 2020 Dubai

A new initiative turns the helmets of delivery drivers into innovative paintings

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the official cultural supporter of the exhibition's cultural affairs, revealed its new partnership with Talabat Middle East, the official food delivery service provider for this global event, with the aim of launching the #TasteArt initiative, which is based on a creative idea that presents Through it, a group of Emirati artists and residents in the UAE shared their own visions of the culinary scene in Talabat Kitchen, during Expo 2020 Dubai.

Talabat commissioned six artists, nominated by Dubai Culture from its talent bank, to unleash their creativity and add their unique artistic touches to the helmets of the company's delivery drivers at the Expo 2020 site throughout the event.

The choice of helmets comes in recognition of the role that delivery drivers play, both for the company and the communities in which they operate.

Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications Department at Dubai Culture, indicated that the initiative stems from a human value represented in promoting community and humanitarian communication, and honoring basic service employees, in appreciation of their active contributions to community service, as well as its endeavor to add new touches of The beauty of the thriving artistic and cultural scene in the emirate, and supporting its creators, by providing innovative platforms to display their creativity and contribute to their prosperity, thus establishing the emirate's position as a global center for culture, an incubator for creativity and a forum for talents.

Al Suwaidi added, “Cooperating with (Talabat) reflects our shared vision to enable community cohesion, by celebrating the role that delivery workers play.

Through the initiative, we also aim to highlight the various culinary arts scene from the various cultures that live on the land of Dubai in an innovative way, by mixing them with art and culture, to produce artistic paintings that speak beauty and humanity.”

“The new collaboration aims to enhance the artistic touches in Talabat’s two-storey kitchen,” said Sonia Likhal, Chief Marketing Officer of Talabat.

As part of this creative initiative, we chose to transform the helmets of the delivery drivers into an innovative painting, which reflects our great appreciation for their efforts, their active role and their dedication to work.”

She added: “In Talabat, we are keen to empower local entrepreneurs and talent and give back to the communities in which we operate. Through this initiative, we seek to highlight local talent to the global audience at Expo 2020 Dubai, and showcase the beauty of the culinary scene, in cooperation with With (Dubai Culture) in Talabat Kitchen, which includes more than 30 prominent local restaurants in the Emirates to serve visitors from all over the world.”

The initiative is launched today, with the participation of the Russian artist residing in Dubai, Evgenia Silvina, who is scheduled to paint on the first helmet.

A group of previous artworks bearing Silvina's signature can be found on the second floor of Talabat Kitchen, where she created a mural of the Dubai skyline and designed a motorcycle for delivery drivers in Talabat.

Under this partnership, Talabat will host one artist per month throughout the period of “Expo 2020”, and visitors wishing to see the artists while drawing on the helmet can follow the “Dubai Culture” page on Instagram @DubaiCulture to learn more information about the participating artists, and the release dates of the helmets that will be held. It will be displayed in the "Talabat Kitchen".

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about Talabat’s autonomous delivery robots and electric scooters throughout the site, as well as meet the robot host who serves sweets and coffee in Talabat’s kitchen from its location next to the Jubilee Park in the Sustainability District.
