Växjö Lakers' arena company wanted compensation for canceled matches due to the pandemic, as the insurance they have taken out covers outbreaks, but the insurance company did not agree.

Länsförsäkringar meant that the insurance only applied to measures aimed directly at the arena in connection with infection, and since the closure was general in society, no money would be paid out.

Now the district court has decided the dispute, and Växjö Lakers is the loser.

Will pay 300,000

Instead of collecting almost SEK 5 million, Växjö Lakers will now pay the insurance company's legal costs of just over SEK 300,000.

The decision can be appealed to the Göta Court of Appeal, which will then first make a decision on the issue of leave to appeal.
