According to the decoration company of China Construction Second Bureau, the contractor of the project, in order to show the ice and snow elements of the Winter Olympics, it is different from the full-plane glass exterior curtain wall of the previous National Stadium. The patterned glass is designed and installed to imitate the realistic effect of ice and snow.

This "ice brick" covers an area of 2,245 square meters, uses more than 700 pieces of patterned glass, and has more than 20 types of specifications, of which the largest piece of patterned glass weighs more than 500 kilograms.
