“Complaints of lawyers against the decree on the choice of a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to Belaya and Sushkevich were left without satisfaction, the decree entered into force," the court said.

The Moscow Regional Court on October 4 arrested the doctors for a period until January 4.

They were placed in a female pre-trial detention center in the capital Pechatniki.

In May 2021, the first general jurisdiction court of appeal overturned the acquittal of the Kaliningrad doctors Elena Belaya and Elina Sushkevich, who had previously been accused of the death of a premature baby.

According to the investigation, the doctors killed the baby in order not to spoil the statistics.

However, the jury acquitted the doctors, believing that their guilt had not been proven.
