A girl who was placed in an emergency room at a state youth home in western Sweden was to be moved to another ward due to lack of space.

According to staff, the girl was outspoken both physically and verbally and did not want to change rooms.

It was then decided to use a so-called transport grip and the girl was carried in the arms and legs by four men and the trousers went in a tumult down to the thighs.

- Male staff tried to pull up their trousers during ongoing transport but interrupted at the youth's request, writes Niclas Lyngstam, head of department at SiS, in an email response to SVT Nyheter Väst.

Feeling ashamed

After the incident, the girl visited a nurse and the girl then had bruises on her wrists, among other things.

In addition, she stated that she felt bad after what happened and that she felt ashamed because she was in a vulnerable situation when four men carried her with their pants down.

- It was wrong to use the transport grip.

Instead, the staff would have had a low-affective attitude and given the girl more time to understand the decision to move to the other building.

Regular staff gone

According to Niclas Lyngstam, this happened when several of the regular staff had a holiday or were away due to illness or something else.

Due to the pandemic, the staff on site had not been adequately trained in the NPNL (No Power No Loose) conflict management program.

The girl was relocated to another SiS home after this incident.

SiS has itself made a lex-Sarah report.

In addition, both SiS and the relevant social services have made an IVO report.
