Gérald Darmanin regrets this Tuesday the absence of surveillance cameras in certain districts of Lyon. Monday evening, three police officers from the anti-crime squad came under fire. The Minister of the Interior sent a letter to Grégory Doucet, EELV mayor of the city, inviting him to "get out of ideology and [to] put video surveillance cameras".

Gérald Darmanin on Tuesday deplored the absence of surveillance cameras in the district of Lyon where police officers came under fire on Monday evening, and sent a letter to the mayor of this city inviting him to install them. During a press conference devoted to the action of the government in matters of security, the Minister of the Interior underlined that it was "the third time" that he addressed a letter in this direction to the mayor EELV of Lyon , Grégory Doucet. In this letter which AFP was aware of, Gérald Darmanin recalls that "the State is ready to co-finance" surveillance systems and insists on "the importance of benefiting from extensive video protection coverage,both for the safety of the inhabitants and for those who ensure their protection every day ".

Three Bac policemen targeted

Speaking during his press conference to mayors in general and to that of Lyon "in particular", Gérald Darmanin felt that it was necessary "to get out of ideology and put video surveillance cameras" in places where there are deals in narcotics.

Monday evening, in the district of Duchère, three police officers from the anti-crime brigade (Bac) were targeted while they were monitoring, according to the minister, a point of deal.

No injuries were to be deplored.
