His first official commitments since this layoff.

Queen Elizabeth II gave virtual audiences to new ambassadors to the UK on Tuesday, her first official engagements since being put to rest by her doctors and spending a night in hospital last week.

The 95-year-old sovereign gave video conferencing audiences from Windsor Castle on the outskirts of London, now her main place of residence, to receive letters of credence from the ambassadors of South Korea, Gunn Kim, and Switzerland, Markus Leitner, according to Buckingham Palace.

The queen appeared smiling and wearing a yellow dress.

It was her first public appearance since October 19 and especially since she canceled a visit to Northern Ireland the next day after her doctors advised her to rest.

Buckingham had belatedly revealed this hospitalization

The queen had spent the night from Wednesday to Thursday at the hospital, officially for "preliminary" examinations.

The fact that Buckingham Palace did not reveal this hospitalization until late, its first since 2013, had raised questions.

The sovereign is expected for the UN climate conference at COP26 early next week in Glasgow, Scotland.
