During September and October, more than 220 reports were received in the UK regarding people who had been involuntarily drugged at the pub.

A clear increase compared to just a few years ago.

The victims are mostly women and the events are often related to student environments.

In most cases, the victims have had their drinks sharpened, but injections with syringes have also occurred.

- In 24 of these cases, you have been given a syringe, often in a crowded situation at a nightclub, injected with a drug and then you have lost your memory, says SVT's reporter in London, Petter Larsson, in Morgonstudion.

Boycott of nightclubs

The testimonies in the British media have been many in the last week and on social media, more than 60 universities have joined the "Girls night in" campaign.

The initiative calls for a boycott of nightclubs and bars on Wednesday night with the demand that the problem should now be taken more seriously.

To date, 170,000 people have signed the petition, which has been compared to a nightlife metoo movement.

- You want there to be lids that you can put on the glasses, that there should be better surveillance and there are safe zones in pub environments for those who feel unsure if they have ingested something, says Petter Larsson.

British police and universities are mapping the events to see if there is a connection between the cases.

Fifteen of the 24 injection cases have taken place in the city of Nottingham and on Friday two suspects could be arrested in the city following tips from the public.
