After the suicide of Dinah, a 14-year-old girl harassed in her school, the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, was the guest of Europe Matin Monday.

He expressed his compassion for the family of the victim and returned to the violence in schools and the responses he wishes to bring.

INTERVIEW

Dinah, 14, committed suicide in early October at her parents' home in Kingersheim, near Mulhouse. The young girl had been the victim of school harassment from her classmates for two years. An investigation was opened by the prosecution to determine if it was the harassment that pushed the teenager to end her life. Guest of Europe Morning Monday at the microphone of Sonia Mabrouk, the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, was questioned about violence in schools. He expressed his deep sadness at the situation, but called "not to get carried away".

"It must alert us," he asked.

"But you must not get carried away in every situation and know your reason to keep things right. So you have to keep your cool. All these facts must be reported and followed by sanctions but have criminal consequences for events that happening in a school environment is already fairly new, "he said.

However, for the minister, harassers must still be educated and imprisonment for students who victimize teachers is an unthinkable measure.

"We are not going to send them to prison for life," he said.
