The army arrests the Sudanese Prime Minister and transfers him to an unknown location after his refusal to "support the coup"

The Sudanese Ministry of Information said on its Facebook page that a force of the army arrested the Sudanese Prime Minister and took him to an unknown location after he refused to issue a statement in support of the “coup.”

The ministry had said earlier that the joint military forces who were holding Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok inside his house had pressured him to issue a statement in support of the "coup".

The ministry quoted Hamdok as calling on the Sudanese, in a message from his house arrest, to adhere to peace and occupy the streets to defend their revolution.

"After his refusal to support the coup, a force from the army arrested Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok and transferred him to an unknown location," said the statement, which was posted on the ministry's Facebook page.
