According to Korean media reports, the results of a poll released by the South Korean Institute of Social Opinion (KSOI) on the 25th showed that if a one-on-one situation between the ruling party and the opposition, Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea’s ruling party, will be slightly different. Ahead of the largest opposition party National Forces presidential candidates Yin Xiyue and Hong Junpyo.

On the same day, Lee Jae-Ming announced his resignation as governor of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, saying that he would concentrate on preparing for the presidential election.

  According to the report, from October 22 to 23, the South Korean Institute of Public Opinion conducted a public opinion survey of 1,005 people over 18 years old across the country, "assuming that there is only one person representing the ruling and opposition parties in the presidential election."

The results showed that the approval ratings of Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea’s ruling party, were slightly ahead of those of Yoon Seok-yue and Hong Junpyo, the presidential candidates of the largest opposition party in South Korea.

  On the 25th, Lee Jae-Ming held a press conference and announced his resignation as governor of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, to concentrate on preparing for the presidential election.

He said, "Just as Gyeonggi Province has become a benchmark for South Korea, he strives to make South Korea a benchmark for the world," and promised to "make South Korea a fair and just country."

  According to reports, Lee Jae-Ming has served as Governor of Gyeonggi Province since July 2018.

In view of the opinion of the leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea that it is difficult to perform the post of governor while concentrating on running for the president and other opinions, he decided to resign from the post of governor.

Lee Jae-Ming’s term as governor of the province is more than a month earlier than the resignation time limit (December 9) for South Korea’s statutory public office.
