October 25, 2021 "Asking young people to commit themselves, not to back down, to accept the risk and to get involved is the horizon that the whole country sets itself as a goal and that the country needs". Sergio Mattarella said this, speaking at the inauguration of the academic year of the University of Foggia. "The young generation that grows allows our country to hope for constant growth", added the Head of State.

The Head of State then went on to underline how the growth of the University of Foggia "  it is a concrete and adequate response to the right to education which is an expression of freedom and equality ".

To fight organized crime, "the formation of consciences is fundamentally indispensable, which is necessary and perceived as indispensable throughout our country" said Mattarella. "The commitment to combat organized crime, the commitment to defeat it, to eliminate its presence - said the Head of State - requires several elements. Alongside the precious and indispensable element of the prevention and repression activity entrusted to the judiciary and to the Police; alongside the need for transparent and efficient public administrations, fast in providing answers to the needs of citizens; alongside the primary need for a growing economy, and a growth in jobs, employment to make the stronger social fabric,more solid, more resistant; there is a fundamentally indispensable action, the

formation of consciences, which is necessary and felt as indispensable throughout our country ".

" We need it everywhere and all structures, realities, agencies, places of formation are called to develop this sense of coexistence, of the community , respect for others, legality. And on the front of the fight against organized crime this fourth element of the formation of consciences - Mattarella reiterated - is particularly decisive and is one of the elements to which university teaching, the university climate, the university community contribute, which as a garrison of culture is everywhere. an element of support of the national community, of local communities, of territories, of the sense of freedom, of fullness of prospects for everyone, of equality ".
