“No one refused to extradite simply because this issue had never been considered: Telman Ismailov was given political asylum,” Ismailov’s lawyer Marina Rusakova told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Ismailov's lawyer, against whom a case was initiated in Russia, told Vijesti that the entrepreneur had received asylum in Montenegro.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed to carry out additional actions to extradite the businessman.

The businessman was detained in Montenegro on a Russian search warrant.

According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, he was put on the international wanted list in 2017 "in connection with the establishment of his involvement in the murder of two entrepreneurs."
