Scenario, the association and platform specialized in participatory education and performing arts, works with marginalized communities in the Arab world, specifically in Lebanon and Jordan, and is concerned with participatory education in marginalized communities. adapting as individuals and societies.

Founded in 2015, the non-profit organization focuses on working with refugees and host communities through participatory theater and choirs, arts leadership training, play-based training and resources for educators.

“Scenario” started her work in the field of theater and choral with refugees and local communities in Lebanon.

In 2017, I was commissioned to conduct a study of the needs of schools in Lebanon, and then clearly the importance of the need for technical and participatory curricula was recognized, not only in the communities in which they operate, but on a broad level.

Therefore, the platform created the “Play Scenario”, the project that qualified for the “Expo Live” program of “Expo 2020 Dubai”, which supports projects that address the most pressing issues and the most impact on human life, and the project is a bank of games, songs, interactive stories, and methods for teachers. Help them manage classrooms.

The Placket Scenario is an acronym for Inclusive Teaching in the 21st Century. It contains classroom games, stories, and songs related to the curriculum that engage children in their own learning and promote achievement, well-being, and good behavior.

Blaket came out as a book at first, but the platform quickly realized that if it wanted to develop diverse content, constantly develop it, and reach several countries, it had to launch an online platform.

Today, the Foundation is training teachers in Lebanon and Jordan to use the Placket Scenario, but it also believes it could become the leading classroom toolkit for teachers in the Arab world and beyond.

The association adds that every week it sends materials directly to parents and guardians via the WhatsApp application, in return, parents send pictures, videos and comments.

Regarding the materials, the association explains that every week parents receive a set of materials, including the lesson plan, which is simple instructions in the form of points, and videos that are short videos explaining how to lead the lesson, in addition to songs and music, as many of the lessons include songs and videos Children and parents watch and participate in it.

Each week includes two topics (for example, the first week: hygiene and food) with reading, writing and arithmetic as interrelated topics, and the files are compressed so that they are easy to download on WhatsApp with the least data.

The educational subjects covered by the Placket app include mathematics, languages, health, natural and human sciences, and social and emotional learning.

The application is available in Arabic, English and French, and you can register on the “Play” application or website to get hundreds of how-to videos, step-by-step instructions along with musical pieces, and flashcards for use in the classroom, center or home.

The app and website feature a plethora of play-based activities, including games, songs, interactive stories, and tools to help with classroom management.

The association notes that the site or app together provides benefits for schools and teachers, with child-centered materials, participatory teaching, positive classroom management, inclusive learning environments, and happier and more inspiring teachers.

For children, the benefits are better interaction with learning and an improvement in cognitive, emotional and social skills, along with increased well-being.

There is a "Learn from Home" program that allows parents and guardians of children between three and six years to apply play-based education at home.

And modified "Scenario", games, songs and stories in "Bliket", so that all lessons are linked to the early childhood educational curriculum.

According to the association, it has so far been able to reach 113 schools, 1,039 teachers, about 26,000 students, and 92% of teachers use “script” songs every day.

stimulating imagination

Blaket's activities can be applied anywhere, but it is preferable to allocate space in the classroom to tell interactive stories and some games through chairs and tables at the end of the row when playing.

The activities are designed for the whole class to participate in, but they can also be used in smaller groups or even with one child.

Activities can be searched for by age group to suit younger or older children. Blaket stimulates children to participate through imagination and physical movement, and helps them understand the curriculum by integrating experiential and kinesthetic learning in the classroom.
