The reason is that the figures become difficult to compare when the Swedish Public Health Agency changes its guidelines.

From 1 November, you do not need to be tested for symptoms if you are fully vaccinated.

- This means that the number of cases will probably go down because there will be significantly less testing.

We will therefore not have a comparable and comprehensive picture, says Christian Blomkvist, infection control doctor at Region Kronoberg.

Can it be interpreted as the pandemic soon over?

- No, I do not think you should do that.

We are now entering the season when we saw an increase in the spread of infection last year and according to the public health authority's scenarios, the spread of the infection will increase this autumn.

We will have to live with covid-19 for a long time, but hopefully it will affect us less and less.

No daily reporting on our site

On SVT Nyheter Småland's site, during the pandemic it has been possible to follow the daily development of the number of newly confirmed cases, but we will now also stop with that reporting.

- As the spread of infection develops as it does, we will also reduce our reporting.

We will continue to report, but not as often.

And if the spread of infection changes, we will also tell this to our audience, says Tomas Lundström, editor-in-chief and responsible publisher at SVT Nyheter Småland.

Region Kronoberg will instead report figures on the number of new cases per week and several other regions will do the same.

The Kalmar region, on the other hand, will continue to report the number of new positive tests daily.

To provide a cohesive picture from Kronoberg and Kalmar counties, SVT News Småland will also update the covid mode per week in the future.

The update will take place on Fridays.
