The investigation is progressing in Colombes, in the Hauts-de-Seine.

The man who threatened the police with a knife shouting "Allah Akbar" before being shot on Friday was not radicalized, the Nanterre prosecutor's office said on Saturday.

"The investigation has not yet revealed any radicalization of the person concerned, who would have been the subject of a psychiatric hospitalization", wrote in a statement the prosecutor of Nanterre Pascal Prache.

The prosecution opened a flagrant investigation “for attempted murder of a person holding public authority”.

The facts took place Friday evening, around 6:20 p.m. in Colombes, a city of more than 85,000 inhabitants located north-west of Paris. During an identity check, two police officers "made use of their weapon on several occasions, shooting at a man coming towards them armed with a knife while shouting" Allah Akbar "", related the prosecution based on "The first elements collected". Despite the intervention of the emergency services, the man died of his injuries at around 7:30 p.m.

From Friday evening, the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (Pnat) had been kept informed of the progress of the investigation, which remained in the hands of the Nanterre prosecutor's office.

The IGPN, the “police force”, was also seized.

The investigation also revealed that the man was 41 years old and was born in Seine-Saint-Denis.

His criminal record does not mention any convictions.
