The Namaa Foundation for the Advancement of Women called for cooperation in implementing procedures and strategies, which ensure the achievement of tangible results in the application of the principle of justice and equal opportunities within institutions, and a radical transformation in women's economic participation, by investing in education and training, and allocating resources to determine the objectives of equal opportunities, and the development of legislation. and internal systems of the institutions.

This came during a discussion session organized by the Nama Foundation in the Women’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, in partnership with the “Pearl Initiative”, attended by more than 30 executive directors and entrepreneurs from the Gulf region, in which they called on leaders of the public and private sectors to improve the impact of businesses that serve Society by providing fair and equal opportunities for women in leadership and decision-making positions.

The closed discussion session was held on the "Irtiqaa" platform of the "Namaa" Foundation, and highlighted strategic job opportunities and sustainable positive changes that can be achieved by promoting equal opportunities and gender equality in institutions.

The session, which lasted for 90 minutes, was attended by Patrick Chalhoub Group CEO, Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group Managing Director, Mona Al Gurg, CEO of Dana Gas, Dr. Patrick Allman Ward, and Founding CEO of Alf Capital. Huda Al Lawati, and the session was moderated by the Executive Director of the Pearl Initiative, Rania Al Saadawi, in the presence of the Director of the Namaa Foundation for the Advancement of Women, Reem bin Karam.

Reem bin Karam praised the efforts of the UAE and its commitment to the principle of justice and equal opportunities, and its initiative to allocate an entire pavilion for women, for the first time in the history of the World Expo.

Patrick Allman-Ward said that "the diversity of visions plays a pivotal role in the decision-making process, and enriches the advantages and qualities that women enjoy," stressing the need to encourage women to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects.

For her part, Huda Al Lawati stressed the importance of having role models in the process of empowering women to participate in the economic decision-making process.

Patrick Chalhoub said: “My mother, Widad Shalhoub, founded our company 65 years ago, in partnership with my father, Michel Chalhoub. Women have always been a partner in the decision-making process within our company since its inception.”
