October 24, 2021 "Today volunteers of the I do not risk campaign will meet citizens in over 300 municipalities and 500 digital squares. It is an opportunity to promote knowledge of the natural phenomena that affect Italy and, in particular, earthquakes and floods". The Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, says this in a video message sent on the occasion of the "I don't risk" initiative of the Civil Protection.

"And to illustrate the best practices to be adopted to reduce risks: these are often simple precautions, what to do in the event of an alert, how to recognize an area at risk, how to make your home safer, how to prepare for an emergency. Small gestures that can save lives ", adds the premier.

"In Italy over 90 per cent of municipalities have areas exposed to the danger of floods and landslides. 41 per cent of the population resides in areas with the highest seismic hazard", recalls Draghi.

"The damage caused by natural disasters cannot be eliminated, but they can be reduced and managed. To do this, everyone needs help and preparation. For years, the national civil protection service has been strongly committed to prevention, it studies and analyzes natural phenomena, identifies structural interventions to reduce risks on the territory, plans how best to face disasters ".

For this reason, the Prime Minister is keen to "thank the civil protection department together with all the other promoters and organizers of this day and the many who have dedicated and will dedicate their time and energy today to this important initiative. You volunteers are the silent force of Italy that responds whenever there is a need. Italy admires you and today wants to learn from you. Thank you ".
