After observing the launch of the South Korean launch vehicle Nuri on the 21st, President Moon Jae-in directly revised the speech manuscript in a way that emphasized the achievements of the research team rather than the unfortunate failures, the Blue House said.

Park Soo-hyeon, senior presidential secretary for public communication at the Blue House, posted on Facebook today (24th) titled 'The President's Story Not in the Briefing' and told the story behind President Moon's message on the day of the launch of the Nuri.

According to Chief Park, during data analysis after the test launch of the Nuri, Park Soo-kyung, a science and technology adviser at the Blue House, reported to President Moon that 'a satellite projectile is expected to fail to land in orbit.

Park said, "The science and technology adviser suggested that we 'tone down' the speech with the concept of 'We lost and fought well', but President Moon was unable to put the satellite model into orbit, but separated the first and second stages and the fairing. He said, "I edited the speech directly after stating that I would celebrate the achievement as much as possible without exaggerating."

Afterwards, President Moon encouraged the researchers and returned to Seoul, saying, "We should convey our achievements well to the people and boost the morale of the researchers," Park said.

A few days before the launch, there was an opinion within the Blue House saying, 'If the launch test fails, let's just encourage the researchers and come back without a separate presidential speech', but President Moon said, "Even if the test fails, I will give a live speech."Chief Park wrote that he dismissed it.

In this regard, during the staff meeting, President Moon said, "Space development is to accumulate valuable experience through failure, and success is ultimately a matter of time." We need to encourage them,” Park added.
