According to him, these exercises are a response to the aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan.

"The completed large-scale exercises in Tajikistan with the collective rapid reaction forces of the CSTO have become one of the most important responses to a sharp aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan," Lapin emphasized during the closing ceremony of the exercise.

He noted that military maneuvers are designed to protect the CSTO member states from any terrorist threat.

According to him, a feature of the exercises held at the Harbmaidon training ground was the use of the latest intelligence, electronic warfare, communications, logistical and medical support.

For example, during the Poisk-2021 exercise, an effective intelligence management system was deployed, which made it possible to "reveal in advance the growing threats and thwart the plan of actions of the bandit formations."

"The experience gained during the exercises will serve as a reliable guarantor of the fulfillment of tasks in a real combat situation," concluded Lapin.

On October 20, the "Combat Brotherhood - 2021" exercise opened at the Harbmaidon training ground in Tajikistan.

It was noted that as part of the maneuvers, the collective forces of the CSTO should work out the tasks of preparing and conducting a joint operation to localize an armed border conflict.
