On October 21, local time, the world's largest triceratops fossil skeleton was auctioned at the Drouot auction house in Paris, France, at a price of 6.65 million euros.

The Paris Drouot auction house held a special auction for collections related to world natural history and publicly displayed this triceratops fossil skeleton on the eve of the auction.

This fossil skeleton is the most important auction item in this auction, with an estimated value of 1.2 million to 1.5 million euros.

The final auction price was 6651100 Euros, which was much higher than the estimated price. The buyer was an anonymous collector from the United States.

This auctioned triceratops fossil skeleton was named "Big John" and has a history of 66 million years. It is the largest triceratops fossil skeleton ever discovered by paleontologists.

The skeleton is 8 meters long and its skull is also the largest in its class, 2.62 meters long and 2 meters wide.

The fossil skeleton is basically well preserved, the bone integrity is more than 60%, and the skull integrity is 75%.

The skull was found to have cracks, which may have been caused by a fierce fight with another triceratops.

The dinosaur fossil auction market is currently in a booming period, and collectors’ enthusiasm for dinosaur fossils continues unabated, resulting in high auction prices for related items.
