"It is planned to use the territory of a non-nuclear state for the deployment of military infrastructure of nuclear states," RIA Novosti quoted Mashkov as saying.

The ambassador expressed concern that the AUKUS partnership "could create potential risks of destabilizing the situation in the field of international and regional security."

Mashkov also called on to figure out what type of weapons supplies are in question.

“We still have to figure out whether we are talking about sea-based cruise missiles or about a ground-based version of this type of weapon, which is now being created in the United States,” he explained.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov expressed hope that the participants in the AUKUS partnership would adhere to their obligations in the field of nuclear non-proliferation.

On September 16, the UK, US and Australia announced a new AUKUS security partnership centered on the Indo-Pacific.
