Phantom, a dog belonging to the cynophile investigation group of Châteauneuf-sur-Loire (Loiret), allowed the arrest of a man suspected of theft on October 14.

The black German shepherd and his team had been called upon to find fleeing criminals after a failed burglary in Briarres-sur-Essone (Loiret), says

La République du Center

.

After the failure of their case, the suspects fled by car and forced a gendarmerie roadblock.

Since then, they were wanted by the soldiers of the surveillance and intervention platoon of the gendarmerie (Psig) of Pithiviers (Loiret).

One of the fugitives took refuge in a barn where he was finally arrested thanks to Phantom's flair.

The dog guided the police to the abandoned building.

A "truffle in the wind" hunt

The German Shepherd embarked on an “odor monitoring” operation that lasted about thirty minutes.

He notably bypassed a wall and crossed brambles with the gendarmes in his footsteps.

The animal was moving “nose in the wind” towards its objective, the soldiers testified.

Phantom then insisted on entering the grounds where the barn was and the suspect hiding there.
