October 22, 2021: The director of photography of a film with Alec Baldwin was killed and the director of the film injured by being shot from a gun, used as a prop by Baldwin.

Halyna Hutchins, 42, the director of photography, was flown to the University of New Mexico hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The second victim, director Joel Souza, 48, was hospitalized in intensive care.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office reports.



The investigation is ongoing and authorities say no accusations have yet been made. The Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper reported that Baldwin was seen outside the sheriff's office in tears, but made no statements. A Baldwin spokesperson said there was an incident on set that a prop pistol that should have been loaded with blanks fired instead.



"Investigators are trying to find out what kind of bullet was fired and how," the sheriff's statement read.
