“The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention against S. Tolokonnikov and R. Mareev,” the press secretary of the court, Maria Mikhailova, reported to Interfax.

Another defendant, A. Marunov, is under house arrest.

According to the court, a criminal case was opened against Marunov on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art.

282.2 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Organization of the activities of an extremist organization").

Tolokonnikov and Mareev are accused of involving citizens in the activities of an extremist religious organization.

According to the press secretary of the court, the measure of restraint for the accused was set until December 20.

In August, three people were detained in Moscow in connection with the organization of a cell of Jehovah's Witnesses.
