The gazebo, which is located in Bockhammar, just outside Skinnskatteberg, once belonged to Ebba Brahe when the mill was owned by the Brahe family.

When the gazebo was built is currently unclear, but according to the weather vane on the roof, it can be read in 1636, which makes it the country's oldest gazebo.

According to history, Ebba Brahe and King Gustav II Adolf must have had a love affair in their youth.

But according to the king's mother, the widowed queen Kristina, Ebba Brahe was not nice enough to be the king's wife.

Great need for renovation

The work that began in September this year includes major restorations of the gazebo.

The foundation, some parts of the roof and the panel will be replaced, a work that is expected to be completed by the summer of 2022.

- The condition is bad because it is in water.

The part that is above the water rots fairly immediately, says Peter Ström, carpenter.
