22 October 2021Asterix meets women, but does not fall in love with them.

In his latest story - "Asterix and the Griffin" - the protagonist of the most famous French comics in the world meets Maminovna and Kalachnikovna, Amazons who lead the fantastic people of the Sarmatians, and is banned from their social model, in which women fight and men take care of the housework.

It makes no concessions to politically correct, this Asterix born two years after the death of Uderzo, who together with Goscinny invented it 62 years ago. It is designed by Ferri and Conrad, who in this album recalls three of Uderzo's passions: horses, the forest and mythological creatures. Together with Obelix and his faithful Idefix, the little hero travels to Central Asia, rushed to the aid of a shaman who is a friend of the druid Panoramix. The Roman army wants to capture the mythical Griffin - half eagle and half lion - and threaten the existence of a nature-loving people like the Sarmatians, with whom the Gauls sympathize while distrusting their matriarchal organization.

There is no shortage of references to current events and the pandemic, with a mysterious potion that looks like a vaccine and an indigenous called Klorokina, but the Gauls remain the Gauls, those who love to fight and eat the wild boar, those who bring home millionaires in every publishing release, even after the death of their inventors: in the last two years the sales of their albums have grown by more than 25% and now Ferri and Conrad expect to sell "at least" 5 million copies.

Not bad for a small 60-year-old rooster, who will arrive in Italy with his griffin on October 28th.
