October 22, 2021 - Queen Elizabeth II spent the night in hospital after canceling a visit to Northern Ireland.
Buckingham Palace reported.
"Following the medical advice to rest for a few days, the queen went to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary exams. She returned to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today (yesterday ed) and is in a good mood".
Buckingham Palace reported Wednesday that the Queen had "reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for the next few days" and was not going to Northern Ireland.
The reference to the medical checks to which Elizabeth underwent increased fears for the state of health of the sovereign: all the more so for the new surge of covid infections in the United Kingdom - despite the ninety-five-year-old queen having been vaccinated - and the impression of fatigue during her recent public appearances, such as being forced to lean on a support stick for the first time.
The last few months have been particularly hard for the queen, tried above all by the loss of the prince consort Philip, who died almost a centenary in the spring.
