He returned to drugs after 3 years of recovery

A father surrenders his addicted son to the police, fearing for his life

A (Gulf) father handed his son over to the police, fearing for his life and future from being lost, as a result of addiction to psychotropic substances, especially since he had previously undergone a treatment plan and fully recovered from addiction, but he returned again after three years, and the competent authorities took over to help the young man recover again. However, he was arrested twice on charges of drug abuse, and was referred to the Criminal Court in Khorfakkan in two separate cases.

The details of the case refer to a young man (23 years) being a victim of abuse and addiction, and the police arrested him previously, on charges of taking psychotropic substances in cases other than those authorized by law, and received the necessary treatment in a clinic designated for addicts, and fully recovered from addiction, but he returned Again after three years of recovery.

The young man abused heavily, which prompted his father to take him to the hospital, and hand him over to the competent authorities for treatment, after consuming a quantity of psychotropic substances that affected his public health and began to pose a threat to the safety of his body and his life.

One of the specialized clinics provided him with the necessary assistance, and allocated a treatment plan with complete care that enabled him to get rid of addiction, but he was arrested twice after that, and two separate cases were opened against him, after he continued to use, despite the treatment provided to him.

For his part, the accused’s defense lawyer asked the Criminal Court in Khorfakkan to transfer the young man for treatment in one of the state’s sanatoriums for addicts, explaining that “his client was able to leave addiction and complete treatment from the toxins of psychotropic substances for a period of three years, but due to the young age of the accused, and the presence of influences around him, Like bad companions, and others, he relapsed again, and returned to addiction again, so his father sought to help him by informing the competent authorities, and submitting a complaint against him with the aim of preserving his life, for fear that his son would be lost in his hands, as a result of excessive use of psychotropic substances, so he informed about his son so that he can fully recover, to live his life like the rest of the youth, and to have goals like all his peers in study, and to form a family.”

In the second case, the Public Prosecution charged the accused with the charge of using psychotropic substances in cases other than those authorized by law, and demanded that he be punished in accordance with the articles of the Federal Law regarding combating narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, after the laboratory report proved the accused’s use of psychotropic substances in the periodic examination.

The accused admitted before the court that he had used psychotropic substances in cases other than those authorized by law.

The court decided to imprison the accused for six months in the first case, because he had a precedent in the case of using psychotropic substances, and also sentenced him to two years in prison in the second case, for convicting him of using psychotropic substances in cases other than those authorized by law.
