Four suspects are now in pre-trial detention, three in France and one in Spain.

Thursday evening, the gendarmerie announced that they had dismantled an important drug trafficking between the two countries, "more precisely between Malaga and Nantes", thanks to the collaboration of the police on both sides of the border.

"In total, in several operations, 92 kg of cannabis resin are seized in France, for a market value of 460,000 euros and 150 kg of cannabis resin as well as more than 130,000 euros in cash in Spain", indicates the gendarmerie.

It was in March 2021 that the investigators discovered the existence of this network, after a first intake of 62 kg of cannabis resin in Vendée by the Nantes customs agents.

Several drug convoys were then seized between May and September, notably involving French nationals living in Malaga.

A "proven" operating mode

“The network organized the importation from Spain to the west of France (Vendée-Bretagne arc) according to a proven operating method, by road by increasing the number of journeys with“ opener ”vehicles and“ carrier ”vehicles, specifies the gendarmerie.

The narcotics were carefully concealed in particularly clever caches, making them almost undetectable ”.
