Sudan.. Police fire tear gas at demonstrators near the parliament building

Sudanese police fired tear gas at demonstrators calling for the handover of power to a civilian government in front of the parliament building in Omdurman, the twin city of the capital, Khartoum, according to witnesses and a journalist in Agence France-Presse.

Tens of thousands of demonstrators demanding civilian rule took to the streets of Khartoum and other cities on Thursday, while a sit-in for those demanding military rule continues for the sixth day in a row near the presidential palace in the capital.
