and the Court of Accounts.

According to sources from the negotiation to EL MUNDO, the new magistrates of the Constitutional Court will be Professor

and the president of the Criminal Chamber of the National Court,

(at the proposal of the PP), as well as the magistrate of the Court Nacional

and the former member of the CGPJ and magistrate

at the proposal of the PSOE. With this pact ends the situation of blockade that weighed on the renewal of the court of guarantees since November 2019. By appointing two counselors from the formation of Pablo Casado and another two from the PSOE, the balance of forces is maintained in the body in charge of interpreting the Constitution, which maintains a conservative majority.

For his part, the Ombudsman will be the former leader of the Madrid PSOE Ángel Gabilondo.

These pacts return a certain normality to the relationship between PSOE and PP, after the names of the CGPJ were agreed in 2018, but the pact was frustrated due to the refusal of Manuel Marchena to preside over the body, after knowing a WhatsApp of the PP on the alleged control that they were going to have from the second chamber of the Supreme Court.
